Crossing the Bar

There’s a wideness in God’s mercy like the wideness of the sea; there’s a kindness in his justice, which is more than liberty, for the love of God is broader than the measure of one’s mind and the heart of the Eternal is most wonderfully kind. If our love were but more simple, we should take him at His Word, and our lives would be all sunshine in the sweetness of our Lord.

May Christ support us all the day long, till the shadows lengthen, and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over and our work is done. Then in His mercy may He give us a safe lodging, and holy rest and peace at the last. Amen.
